  • Assembly Technician - Cochrane , AB

    Assembly Technician - Millwright, Cochrane, Alberta

    As an Assembly Technician at Hunterwood you will be responsible for the mechanical assembly of Hunterwood projects – component assembly, hydraulic systems and electrical systems.

    This is a position in which international travel is required. Employee must maintain a valid passport and ability to travel to remain eligible for this position. Up to 50% travel time could be expected during busy intervals.

    Position Requriements:

    • Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
    • Operate hoisting and lifting devices, such as cranes, jacks, and forklifts, to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up and repair of machinery
    • Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and find irregularities and malfunctions
    • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain hydraulic systems and programmable logic controls
    • Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts
    • Operate machine tools, such as lathes and grinders, to fabricate parts required during maintenance or set-up of machinery
    • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery
    • Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation by using hand and power tools and welding equipment
    • Perform QC of work to ensure Hunterwood standards are being kept
    • Build according to parameters described in drawing packages
    • Comply with all stated safety obligations as outline in AB OHS ACT, Regulations, and Safety Code
    • Wear appropriate PPE at all times when required to do so and work in a safe manner that prevents opportunity for accidents
    • Participate in safety meetings and briefings and contribute to a positive safe and healthy work environment by taking a proactive role in safety

    Skills Required:

    • Strong mechanical, millwright, and manufacturing background, as well as a knowledge of hydraulics an asset.
    • Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
    • Excellent attention to detail and adherence to quality standards.
    • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally for 4-6 weeks at a time.
    • Ability to maintain a valid passport
    • Valid Covid-19 Vaccination for International Travel
    • Willingness to travel 35-50%of the time

    Electrical & Automation Designer, Cochrane, Alberta

    The Electrical & Automation Designer is responsible for contributing to the electrical and automation functions of Hunterwood presses and accessories, including new designs and installation & service support.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    Depending on experience level and particular project assignments, duties may include the following:

    • Contribute to ensuring customer/market requirements and expectations are accurately reflected in documentation and met by designs
    • Determine or propose required specifications of electrical components to cost-effectively fulfill functions required by design intent

  • Electrical Control System & Automation Team Lead - Cochrane, AB

    Electrical Control System & Automation Team Lead, Cochrane, Alberta

    The Team Lead of the electrical design and automation group is responsible for developing, reviewing, and executing the electrical design concepts and automation software for all equipment manufactured or designed by Hunterwood. Develops, integrates, implements and optimizes automation controls for mechanical systems. Produces and keeps current documentation for control systems. Field implementation, Field diagnostics and repair as required. Supervises, reviews, and directs work of EITs and junior electrical staff.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    The leader of the product development team responsible for development of the control system of Hunterwood projects. Develop electrical schematics, termination diagrams and accompanying documentation. Update and check HMI software, configure MCC, PLC, Factory Network devices and HMI’s, installations and commissioning.

    General:

    • Understand customer/market requirements and expectations, and contribute as needed to ensure these are accurately reflected in scoping and design intent documentation
    • Determine required specifications of electrical components to cost-effectively fulfill functions required by design intent

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    Standard Tasks

    • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine work requirements
    • Panel Building, box construction & installation on project equipment
    • Conduit assembly, wire pulling, terminating
    • Device installation including proxies, valve cords, proxy cords, other sensors
    • Any necessary fabrication for electrical components.
    • Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and find irregularities and malfunctions
    • Cross-functional mechanical assembly as shop demand requires
    • Keep a clean, organized and safe work environment.
    • Equipment installation & commissioning at customer site
    • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally for 2-4 weeks at a time; maintain a valid passport

    Safety:

    • Wear appropriate PPE at all times and work in a safe manner according to internal policies

    As Production Coordinator you are responsible for the release of Press project documents including the management of press documentation.

    Special designation: SAP Master User

    SAP Master users are required to provide training on an as need basis to employees of Hunterwood.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Create and manage SAP production modules.
    • Maintain press project documentation files and folders.
    • Manage and execute the release of bill of materials for procurement.
    • Maintain Production Chart (Design Tree) and flag anomalies for resolution.
    • Manage, process, and track Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) in an expediated manner.

  • US Packaging Service Technician - Ellensburg, WA

    Packaging Service Technician, Ellensburg WA, USA

    As a Service Technician, reporting to the Operations Manager, US, you will work as part of our local team to support Hunterwood customers throughout the Washington region with their packaging machine maintenance programs. Experience with troubleshooting, machine maintenance and PLC’s will be critical in the success of the role.

    This position is expected to be available Monday to Friday 7:00am – 4:00pm and as needed for after hour’s calls (cell phone/laptop provided).

    Responsibilities & Duties:

    Technical field work

    • Maintain strapping and wrapping equipment
    • Implement start-up procedures for equipment
    • Testing and commissioning of equipment on-site
    • Extract or interpret electrical and schematic drawings from third parties and integrate systems into our production lines
    • Install & upgrade work as required
    • Phone/online troubleshooting on customer’s equipment
    • Warranty support for customer’s equipment
    • Customer training for Operators and Maintenance
    • Shop service work as required

    Organization

    • Proper documentation of customer calls and feedback on issue resolution

    Monitor / Quality Control

    • Monitor the running time, down time, and errors on the Hunterwood machines
    • Optimizing machine productivity
    • Observe, document, and log equipment deficiencies as necessary based on site visits, factory equipment inspections, and customer feedback.

    Safety

    • Safety of Hunterwood Equipment
    • Ensuring all Hunterwood equipment is kept up to proper safety standards by
    • completing site surveys and safety evaluations in conjunction with customers while at site.
    • Ensure equipment is not modified from original design intent without the approval of Design and Management – particularly when it involves any safety system or change in general function of a specific device.
    • Follow standard written protocols for our control system designs, revision control and safety.
    • Ensure that you comply with all safety legislation and regulations.
    • You must wear appropriate PPE when necessary

    Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of PLC’s and control systems a plus.
    • Good mechanical aptitude.
    • Understanding of hydraulic systems a plus.
    • Be able to read hydraulic/Electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
    • Moderate understanding of electrical systems.
    • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
